About my Swan Series

In the summer of 2024, I began my swan series, which continued until around December 2025.

During this time, I created over 80 paintings of swans. For me, this series represents my archetypal journey toward discovering my own inner worth. It raised a fundamental question: "Who do you think you are?" I believe almost everyone—or at least many people—knows this inner struggle with feelings of inadequacy.

That voice that says, "Stay small." I know that voice, too; it was very loud during my childhood and haunted me well into adulthood. Yet, external circumstances forced me to confront this issue. Thus began my transformation—moving away from the thought "Who do you think you are? You are worthless!" toward a personality that recognized its own value and began to develop, slowly but surely, a genuine, lived self-confidence.

The first painting in my swan series marked a major turning point in my life. For the very first time, my worth was acknowledged; for the very first time, I found myself in an environment where I could be myself—where I was accepted and, even more, respected for who I am.
It was much like the story of the Ugly Duckling, who finally gained his white plumage and was admired by others for it.
For me, however, this also meant not compromising who I was just to be liked, but rather acting authentically and standing by myself!

Countless other swan paintings followed—easily around a hundred of them. With the final painting (see below), I felt that I no longer wanted to paint swans. Although I did paint a few floral pieces, they somehow failed to truly captivate me.

While four or five additional swan paintings have emerged in recent months, I feel that this era has now slowly come to an end.

June 2024

My first Swan Artwork :)

In June 2024, I spontaneously bought the cheapest acrylic paints and canvases I could find. I started painting without giving it much thought. The first picture was a landscape inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh, as I particularly admire his painting style. The second picture—the one on the left—depicts a swan lake. I hadn't really painted or drawn for twenty years, so I didn't have high expectations for myself.

July 2024

My Initial Series

We went on vacation in July 2024 to Austria.

I have a special connection to the Kaunertal valley and would visit the area every few months to unwind.
We spent two wonderful summer weeks in Kaunertal. I had bought better paints and a few canvases, which I simply took along with me.

It was there that I had my first real artistic inspiration: I painted a series of swans using only two colors—pink and blue.

This was effectively the series that started it all, as it led to the creation of around 90 swan paintings. Most of them were painted in series, often without me consciously planning it.

I would get a feeling for a specific color (usually pink) and then feel compelled to create several pieces in that shade. I always worked on three or four pieces simultaneously, creating the backgrounds first and then adding the compositions.mBlue, green, and gray swans followed.

That is also how I named them in my collection—simply by numbering them sequentially.

Dezember 2025

One of my last swan pictures

We emigrated to Switzerland in October 2025.

The era of the swans was slowly drawing to a close.

I painted this picture on the left in December 2025, and for me personally, it is the best piece in the entire series.

By this point, I had already begun experimenting with mixed media and ink.

I varied my brushes, tried to create different types of brushstrokes, and simply had a thirst for knowledge regarding further techniques and possibilities—feeling that my knowledge was limited and wanting to paint and experiment more.

Indeed, in January 2026, I signed up for a one-year course at an art school.

I am truly happy about this development.
