Between Feather and Marble

Transformation, inner strength, and the quest for self-worth lie at the heart of my first public exhibition.

Over the past two years, I have created more than 160 works, organized into two distinct series that reflect my artistic exploration of change, identity, and personal growth.

The first series—the "Swan Series"—comprises approximately 90 works. Inspired by the symbolism of the fairy tale "The Ugly Duckling," it speaks to self-worth, authenticity, and the power of transformation. It invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys, the act of letting go of outdated self-images, and the beauty of living authentically.

The second series—"David"—marks the beginning of a new artistic chapter. Inspired by Michelangelo’s famous sculpture "David" and other iconic figures from art history—such as Alexandre Cabanel’s "Fallen Angel"—I have created contemporary, urban reinterpretations. The focus here is on courage, steadfastness, and the archetypal human journey of facing one’s challenges and growing through them.

The exhibition brings together two series that illuminate different facets of the same human journey: the path to self-discovery and the courage to stand up for who you truly are.

Both series are deeply connected to my own life story. Repeated fresh starts, life’s trials, and the search for identity have shaped my artistic voice.

However, these images are not intended as an autobiography; rather, they serve as an invitation to explore universal themes—such as transformation, resilience, and inner strength—from your own perspective.

I look forward to welcoming you to the opening at my home gallery. In an intimate setting, you will have the opportunity to view the works while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice, to converse with me, and to learn more about the ideas and stories behind these two series.

About the artist

My name is Natalia. Born in Kyiv and raised in Germany, I have been accompanied by a love for art and nature since childhood. From an early age, I found inspiration in forests, flowers, and the beauty of the natural world.

After studying engineering at the University of Stuttgart and spending many years working as a development engineer in the automotive industry, my path repeatedly led me to the mountains—places that reignited my connection to nature.

In 2024, I returned to painting and began expressing my thoughts, experiences, and emotions through art. Today, I live and work as a freelance artist in the Canton of Grisons, Switzerland, surrounded by the landscape that inspires me.

My art is deeply intertwined with my personal story. It speaks of change, strength, and the courage to forge new paths. Alongside my art, I am creating a book titled *David gegen Goliath* (David vs. Goliath), in which I document my experiences and personal transformation. For me, images and words are two forms of the same story.

David Series

I completed the practical component of the program in May 2026. I have found my themes and my visual language.

After completing the practical component of my studies at the art academy, I found my themes and my artistic voice.

I discovered that I am deeply fascinated by classical icons. I also love strong contrasts, neon colors, and bold black lines.

I reinterpreted classical works of art such as Michelangelo's "David" or Alexandre Cabanel's "Fallen Angel."

To discover my artistic voice and themes—and to establish myself as an artist in the long run—I enrolled at the Milan Art Institute in January 2026.

My goal was to refine my painting skills, find my voice, and acquire essential business skills.

Painting alongside my full-time Job since Jun. 24

Swan Collection

In the summer of 2024, I began painting alongside my full-time job. Initially, I focused primarily on swans and created a series that now comprises around 90 paintings.

The first painting in this swan series marked a significant turning point in my life. For the first time, I felt valued. For the first time, I found myself in an environment where I could be completely myself—accepted and respected for who I am.

For me, this experience is reminiscent of the story of the ugly duckling, who eventually realizes she is a swan. Only when she discovers her true nature does she find her place and is seen for what she has always been.

At the same time, I realized that I don't have to compromise just to be liked. Instead, I want to act authentically and stand by myself.

To date, the swan series comprises around 90 paintings, which I have numbered consecutively. It is complemented by several water lily paintings, which also belong to the "Swan Lake" theme.
